A Tasting of Chinese Wines

In Past Events by ashepherdiwfs

Those of you who visited China 10 or 20 years ago will know that the selection of local wines used to be pretty limited, to say the least.  But times have changed.  The organiser of this tasting has purchased 50 different bottles of wine made in China for this tasting and he will try to select an interesting cross section of styles and grape varieties to enlighten you about Chinese wine.

There are all sorts of mysteries about Chinese wines, hardly surprising when you see the diverse geographical areas where it is made, the degrees of altitude and the horrendous weather which some vines have to endure.

Wine has been made for well over 100 years but there has been considerable improvement over recent years with most wines produced from classic European vine varietals.

Hopefully we will taste some interesting examples and you will learn not only about the wines but the fascinating stories about the firms making them and the extraordinary architectural creations where the wine is made.

Food will be served after the tasting with a selection of appropriate Chinese wines
