French versus South African wines

In Past Events by ashepherdiwfs

The idea is to compare, without prejudice, the attractiveness of French wines with that of South African wines, and to see if people can tell the different types of wine apart. The wines will be served blind in pairs, each pair consisting of one French wine and one South African one, with members voting after each pair for which they preferred and – if they wish – guessing which wine was which.

The French wines chosen by Jeffrey Benson will be:
2015 Château de Tracy, Pouilly Fumé.
2015 Chablis 1er Cru. Côte de Lechet.
2014 La Reserve de Leoville Barton.
2014 Château Batailley.
2014 Gerard Bertrand , Banyuls.

Bernard Lamb’s choices from South Africa are
2018 Tokara Reserve Collection Elgin Sauvignon Blanc.
2017 Tokara Reserve Collection Stellenbosch Chardonnay, barrel fermented.
2015 Tokara Reserve Collection Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon.
2015 Tokara Director’s Reserve.
2015 Rustenberg Red Muscadel, Western Cape.

Brenda Lamb will provide a light meal afterwards, including puddings.
