One event to report this month, a delightful lunch for London Branch members at a one-star Michelin French restaurant just east of the City of London, Galvin La Chapelle.

The weather was very warm outside, the sun beating down. But we were comfortably cool in an exceptional setting from the ground floor upwards, past the mezzanine floor where we were convivially seated round a rectangular table in the private dining area: large arched windows, marble columns, with a high stone double-height vaulted ceiling. At different times in its history it was a chapel, a girls’ school and a gym.

The service was lovely, and Stephen, the Head Sommelier, told us about each of the wines chosen to accompany the delicious food, two choices for each course and well presented.

Great to be back lunching together – we all had a good time!
