French vs Australian Tasting

In Past Events by ashepherdiwfs

Brendan Barratt has recently joined us from the Melbourne Branch.  What is more, he owns a vineyard in Australia, regularly works in Burgundy, and has studied at the prestigious wine school in Beaune.

This evening, he has very kindly agreed to give us the opportunity to compare wines from his vineyard with some top quality equivalents from Australia,  Burgundy and Bordeaux.   The wines will be organized in 3 flights, with three or four wines per flight.

Chardonnay/ White Burgundy

Pinot Noir/ Red Burgundy

Cabernet Sauvignon/ Bordeaux

In each flight there will be a benchmark French wine of a good premier cru standard and at least one good quality alternative from regions in Australia best suited to these grape varieties.  The Australian wines are not the typical big blockbuster wines that normally find their way to the UK and you may be surprised by the results.

Canapés will be provided to accompany the tasting.
