Following on from his very enjoyable Saint-Julien tasting, long-standing London branch member and Californian wine enthusiast Ed Gretton will explore the vibrant and diverse wines of
California’s premier regions: Sonoma, Santa Cruz, and Napa. From coastal vineyards to sun-drenched valley estates, this tasting will showcase the elegance, power, and expressive character of the Golden State’s finest offerings in the vicinity of San Francisco, where Ed has spent a lot of time working in recent years.
This evening will feature a curated selection of exceptional wines spanning both lesser-known treasures and celebrated classics. Members and guests will have the rare opportunity to compare the subtlety of coastal Pinot Noirs with the depth and structure of Napa Cabernets, alongside distinctive expressions of Rhône-style reds and bold varietals from across California.
Highlights include standout examples such as the 2017 Staglin Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford, the 2019 Ridge Lytton Estate Petite Sirah of Healdsburg, and the rare 2015 Robert Sinskey Vineyards ‘Vandal Vineyard’ Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley — wines that exemplify the precision, balance, complexity, character and also variety of the region.
A light supper will be served, making this not just a tasting, but a convivial journey through some of California’s most celebrated terroirs.
