We last visited Ishtar in January 2013 and then seven years before that.
On both occasions we have had an excellent dinner with the bonus of entertainment there. The restaurant continues to be one of the most popular Turkish restaurants in London and consistently receives very good reviews including several from Time Out. The quality of their food is excellent, service is attentive but not oppressive and the ambience is convivial.
Ishtar was the ancient “Sumero-Babylonian” goddess of fertility, love and light, and the restaurant says “this is reflected in our food”. Ishtar serves modern and traditional Turkish food.
Your organiser frequently eats there and, as a regular, has negotiated a remarkable price of £55.00 for your menu with the management – including wine – for an entertaining evening
We will start with an apéritif of Kir Royal or Bellini and our menu will be as follows:
Starter
Meze – this could be a mix of cold and hot starters including houmus, taboulleh, sautéed aubergines, spinach paté, aubergine puée, fresh broad beans or pan fried king prawns.
Main Courses
A choice of eight main dishes from two lamb, two chicken, two fish and moussaka meat or vegetarian.
OR grilled whole sea bass.
Please note: we will order our choices on the night as everything is cooked fresh but if you want the sea bass please note this on your booking form to ensure that you receive it as it is popular and can run out.
Dessert
Baklava served with ice cream
This will be followed by Tea or Turkish Coffee
Wine will be served with the meal and we will have a choice of Turkish or French, red or white.
