A lot has been happening in Moldova in recent years. Just in case you don’t know where this country is located, it is the eastern part of what used to be Romania, but is now a republic in its own right. There has been huge improvement in the quality of wines made there , now marketed as ‘wine of Moldova’ by the republic to unite the growers and support the export of their wines which are now using a system based on the EU model.
There is an interesting article about Moldovan wines in the most recent Decanter which outlines what is happening over there and mentions the Feteasca and Rara Neagra grapes now being incorporated into their wines.
Tonight we will taste about 10 wines to show as wide a selection as possible, followed by a simple 2 course dinner.
