Ari Sofianos and Chris Bonsall are organising a Gourmet London tour in the week after the London 2018 International Festival to give some of those attending the opportunity to experience a selection of London’s finest restaurants that are too small to be part of the Festival itself.  There are now a very few places at these events for local members, and for that matter any other EAZ members who happen to be in London at the time.  As well as having a great dining experience, you will also be able to meet some IWFS members from all over the world.

BERRY BROS & RUDD
63 Pall Mall
London SW1Y 5HZ
Date: Tuesday 5th June 2018 Time: 11am Dress: Casual
Founded in 1698 by the Widow Bourne, and still family-run, Berry Bros is London’s oldest wine shop. It has grown from a small coffee house to an international wine business with six offices around the world. The original shop, in the heart of St James’s, retains many of the original features, including a pair of giant scales, originally used to weigh coffee and tea and later to measure their customers’ weight, a fashionable pastime that continues to this day. More importantly, it boasts six Masters of Wine and an incomparable list of fine wines from around the world. Following a guided tour of the cellars and an aperitif reception, we will sit down to a tasting of fine wines, specially selected for us and tutored by Rebecca Lamont, Head of Berry Bros Wine School. A buffet lunch will accompany the wines.
Price: £95 per head

GAUTHIER SOHO
Le Grand Salon
21 Romilly St
London W1D 5AF
Date: Tuesday 5th June 2018 Time: 7pm Dress: Jacket & Tie
Situated in an attractive Regency townhouse in the heart of Soho, this is one of London’s top gastronomic destinations and has won our Society’s Award for Excellence. Chef/patron Alexis Gauthier trained at Alain Ducasse’s Louis XV Restaurant in Monaco before he opened Roussillon in London in 1998 and then moved to Soho in 2010. His cooking still has signs of his classic French background, but has evolved over the years into a lighter and more creative style. We will be at the elegant Grand Salon on the first floor where, following a champagne reception, we will be served a 6-course tasting menu with excellent, and sometimes unusual matching wines expertly chosen by David Havlik, the young and enthusiastic Czech sommelier.
Price: £125 per head

BONHAMS
7 Haunch of Venison Yard
off Brook Street
London W1K 5ES
Date: Wednesday 6th June 2018 Time: 7pm Dress: Jacket & Tie
This is the restaurant of Bonham’s, the renowned auctioneers. Originally established for their clients, in 2015 they hired Tom Kemble, an extremely talented young man and then sous-chef at Hedone, as their head chef. Tom religiously applied the Hedone philosophy: top quality produce, excellent presentation, and imaginative light cooking that enables the flavours to shine. The wine list, overseen by Richard Harvey MW, head of Bonham’s wine department, is equally impressive and enables sommelier Charlotte Edgecombe to make inspired choices to match Tom’s dishes. We will be taking over the whole restaurant as it only has 24 seats. Following a champagne reception, we will be served a delicious 4-course dinner with fine wines.
Price: £140 per head

THE WATERSIDE INN
Private Dining Room
Ferry Road
Bray SL6 2AT
Date: Thursday 7th June Time: 12pm Dress: Smart Casual
The Waterside Inn needs no introduction. Set in an idyllic position on the Thames, it has been a temple of gastronomy for over 40 years and is one of only five UK restaurants to have three Michelin stars. Classic French cuisine with modern touches cooked by Alain Roux and charming service led by Diego Masciaga, without doubt the top maitre d’ in the UK, ensure a memorable experience in every way. We shall be at their private dining room overlooking the river where, following a champagne reception with canapés, we will be served a delicious 4-course menu with matching wines. We have chartered a coach which will leave Central London at 10:30 am to take us to the restaurant and bring us back to London after lunch.
