Pamela Rustem has recently taken over as the London Branch’s Events Coordinator and this is her very first event for the Branch, so she is looking forward to seeing many of our members at this special luncheon

Currently owned by Will Lander and Daniel Morgenthau, and dating back to 1869, the Quality Chophouse in Farringdon is an iconic London dining spot, one reminiscent of another time, the kind of place where men in suits would come to drink fine wines and eat hearty lunches. Now, after a brief period of closure, it re-opened in 2018 under new management – who have sensibly tinkered very little with the interior, retaining the handsome chequerboard floor and trademark wooden booth seating – and it even still boasts Grade II listed benches!  The food is simply presented on the prettiest of plates and the low-lit space is both intimate and elegant. Additionally, especially for us, Pamela has booked the private room of the restaurant where we also get our own dedicated waiter

Head Chef, Shaun Searly, is passionate about working with the best suppliers he can find.  The venue also boasts an award-winning wine list, run by the co-director, James Fryer with both a wine bar and wine shop next door as well as a cellar list of special single bottles below the restaurant. The menu changes daily, so our “feasting menu” will have sharing style starter plates, followed by a main course and dessert.  The menu is always contemporary whilst remaining respectful to, and proud of, the site’s ‘meaty’ past.

Ham hock croquette, burnt apple puree
Sourdough, Jersey butter
Smoked cod’s roe, cured egg yolk
Winter tomatoes, mozzarella, jalapeno
Middle White pork and prune terrine, fig chutney

Swaledale lamb
Pommes Anna
Beef fat hispi cabbage, beef fat breadcrumbs

Treacle tart, clotted cream
