We have six wines from the professional, commercial world, differing in origin, grape varieties, weight, sweetness and alcohol (8 to 20%), from top makers and great years.

Schloss Vollrads 2001 Spätlese Rheingau Riesling.

Bothy Vineyards The Paradox 2007, Oxfordshire Regional Wine. A unique early (!) harvest dessert wine from the Liwicki family. Only 1,218 bottles (50 cl) were made.

Château Suduiraut 1970 Sauternes.

Marcel Deiss Gewurztraminer 1989 Vendange Tardif, Bergheim, Alsace.

Tokaj Classic Tokaji Aszu 1999, 6 puttonyos.

D’Oliveras Reserva Boal 1968 Madeira.

Presented with equal pride (but at much lower cost!) are five wines from the amateur world, not restricted to the strait-jacket of using only grapes. All have been made by winners of ‘firsts’ in the National Show. They are among the rarest on Earth, with only one to six bottles ever produced.

B. Lamb, Peach and Apricot Wine 2012, London.

B. Lamb, Red After-dinner Wine, not fortified, 2007, London.

White After-dinner Wine, not fortified, the National winners, 2009.

Fortified Sweet Sherry-style, the National winners, 2011.

Fortified Madeira-style After-dinner Wine, the National winners, 2009.

We finish with an ‘out-of-this world’ special mystery drink, English, commercial.

Brenda Lamb will provide a light meal afterwards, including puddings.
