Michelin starred dining is never inexpensive, but it can be good value.  Persephone has dined here, as have Alan and Stephanie, and all were impressed with the quality of the food.  We have booked the private dining room on the mezzanine floor, with a superb position looking out over the main restaurant; we may have to move downstairs if there are too many of us for the space.

Originally called St Botolph’s Hall, it was indeed a chapel, part of Bishopsgate School for Girls and used as a gym.  It was derelict for some years until restored and opened as a restaurant in 2009. The dining room features double-height ceilings, marble columns and large arched windows.

Of the Galvin brothers, Chris’ first mentor, Anthony Worral-Thompson, piqued Chris’ interest in creative, modern food. This led to a commis job at the Ritz under Michael Quinn. Jeff began his career at the Savoy, before progressing to junior sous chef at Michelin-starred Capital Hotel, working under Philip Britten.

We will be treated to a 3 course lunch with accompanying wines and a glass of champagne to start. Persephone will finalise the menu nearer the time.
