Chateauneuf du Pape lies in the centre of the biggest concentration of Rhone vineyards, on a hill dominated by a ruined papal summer palace. Its vines are widely spaced; low bushes surrounded by smooth stones. The deep red wines are robust and long lived.
Tonight we taste vintages covering 70 years from 1929 to 1999
1999 Domaine Roger Bernoin
1992 Château de Beaucastel
1982 Domaine de Baban
1982 Château de La Gardine
1971 Domaine Vincent Laurentin-Caravache
1961 Cuvée Auguste Bessac
1952 ‘La Bernadine’ Domaine Chapoutier
1929 Reserve, Jacksons of Piccadilly
There will be cold meat and cheese boards to accompany the wine tasting.
Please note that these are untried wines and whilst we make every effort to provide a quality tasting, one or more wines may well be past their prime.
