We will compare the attractiveness of English wines with those of France, and see if people can tell which is which. The wines will be served blind in pairs in a similar style, with members voting after each pair for which they preferred and – if they wish – guessing which wine was which. English wines were chosen by Bernard Lamb, French ones by Jeffrey Benson. The wines will be in random order in each round.

Round 1. Sparkling wine, Camel Valley Pinot Noir 2014, Brut. Cornwall, vs NV Champagne Hebrart Brut Cuvée Selection Vieilles Vignes.

Round 2. Bolney Foxhole Vineyard Pinot Gris 2017. West Sussex, vs 2016 Dopff Au Moulin Pinot Gris.

Round 3. Chapel Down Kit’s Coty Chardonnay, 2013, oaked. Kent, vs 2016 Rully ‘Saint Jacques’ Domaine Antoine Olivier.

Round 4. Furleigh Estate Bacchus Fumé, 2015, Dorset, vs 2016 Pouilly Fumé Domaine Tabordet.

Round 5. Adgestone Full Bodied Red 2016, Isle of Wight, Rondo, vs 2016 Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Domaine Réné Monnier.

Round 6. Denbies Noble Harvest Vineyard Select, 2016. Surrey, vs 2008 Castenau de Suduiraut.

Brenda Lamb will provide a cold supper, with puddings.
