Many of you enjoyed our tastings via Zoom during lockdown, and asked me to continue them.  So here we go.

You are welcome to source your own wines from our suggestions below, or otherwise, and to share tasting experiences and learn something about the wines and wine production in Chile – contributing as much or as little as you wish.

Chile has a range of different climates and growing conditions, terroirs and styles of wine. There is a viticultural revolution going on right now, with its continuing technological investment and research into growing conditions. Its star is rising for value and quality – not at the cheapest end of the market.

My three suggestions for wines for this evening are as follows

1,  Errazuriz Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2020/21, Casablanca Valley £9.99

Alternatively

  • Errazuriz Sauvignon Blanc 2020/21, Casablanca Valley £8.99, also from Tesco
  • Another Sauvignon Blanc from the Casablanca Valley

2.  Santa Rita ‘Medalla Real’ Carménère 2019, Colchagua Valley £10.99

Alternatively

  • Definition Carménère 2020, £9.99
  • Another Carménère from Chile

3.  Managers’ Choice: VIK ‘A’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2018/20, Cachapoal Valley £14.99

Alternatively

  • Another Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile

I’ve chosen the wines from what is on the current Majestic list, although general availability cannot be guaranteed. In any event, if you would like to taste and/or tell us about any of the alternatives or another wine from Chile at this tasting, please do.

It’s all informal: you will be very welcome to join in, with or without any or all of the wines I’ve suggested.

If you place an order for at least six wines with your local Majestic by telephone, they will deliver to you – or now, you can go and collect them – and the wines will be at a discounted price. This is the price shown above, but be aware that both vintages and prices are subject to change.

If you would like to email me in advance about your choice, or with any queries, please do!  There is no charge for this event, but pre-registration is required.    Near the date we will email you a link for you to join the meeting, and a tasting sheet.

Looking forward to the tasting, which will be led by me, Rachel Burnett, rachel@burnett.org.uk
