We will compare the attractiveness of Australian wines with those of France, and see if people can tell which is which. The wines will be served blind in pairs in a similar style, with members voting after each pair for which they preferred and – if they wish – guessing which wine was which. The wines below are not in tasting order.

The French wines chosen by Jeffrey Benson are:

2015 Naturalys Viognier (Pays d’Oc) Domaine Gerard Bertrand; 2011 Domaine de L’Eglise Pomerol;
2013 Chateauneuf du Pape ‘Reserve de Château Fortia’;
2013 Crozes Hermitage ‘Terre d’Eclat’ Dom de la Ville Rouge; 2013 Cornas ‘La Sabarotte’ Domaine Courbis.

Australian wines chosen by Bernard Lamb are:

Yalumba Viognier, Eden Valley 2016;
Henschke Abbotts Prayer 2010, Adelaide Hills, Merlot/Cabernet;
Melton Nine Popes, Barossa Valley, Grenache/Syrah;
Tyrell’s wood duck dam, Heathcote Shiraz 2014;
Tim Adams The Aberfeldy 2005, Clare Valley, Shiraz.

Brenda Lamb will provide a light meal afterwards.
