We are delighted that one of our recently joined members, Lance Jaundoo, has generously agreed to share some of his 1980’s Classed Growth Clarets with us.  Lance is a retired Civil Servant, born in Guyana, who came to England in 1961 to study law. In 1965 he graduated from London University with an honour’s degree in law but instead pursued a career in the Civil Service.
In 1979 Lance tasted Ch Talbot 1970 and was so impressed that he resolved to build his own cellar of fine Bordeaux, although he didn’t get round to starting until some years later. One of his first en primeur purchases, Ch Latour 1985, is included in our tasting.  In addition to claret, Lance enjoys Ch Musar, Guigal Cotes de Rhone, Pesquera (Spain ) , Domaine Maby (Lirac) and Amarone. His cellar also has Hermitage La Chapelle 1989 and Penfolds Grange 1982 and 1996.

Please note that this will be a single bottle tasting, limited to 18 people.

The wines will be presented by Michael Daiches. After the tasting Carole Goldberg will provide a cold supper appropriate to the occasion.
