Once again we are promised a treat. Paul Mapplebeck, whom some members will know, has raided his cellar to come up with some interesting wines for us to taste, ending with the 1995 Chateau Palmer.
Margaux contains the greatest number of grand cru classes in the Medoc but in the eighties and nineties some of the chateaux performed below the quality expected of them. This has now changed with some like Chateau Palmer performing well above their official rankings. After a palate cleansing white Paul Mapplebeck will tutor us through eight chateau’s grand vins. Paul is a very entertaining and knowledgeable speaker. Margaux has high quality wines besides the unaffordable Chateau Margaux, and these 2nd and 3rd Growths will demonstrate this. The following wines will be tasted:
2010 Château Marquis Terme
2008 Château Angludet
06 Château Cantenac Brown
2005 Château Brane Cantenac
2002 Château Brabne Cantenac
2001 Château Labegorce Zede
2000 Château Desmirail
1995 Château Palmer
This tasting will be followed by a fabulous supper cooked by Chef Anne Marie.
